Ethical Dilemma
Abortion
You’re four months pregnant and an ultrasound reveals your baby will have Down’s syndrome. Do you keep the baby or abort?
In one way stopping one person to live a life can be a tough decision, but what if this person is sick from birth? Does it change how is going to live his life? Will he suffer or succeed?
We don’t know any of these answers but we can explain them in a way to prove a point.
Firstly taking a life from someone is a mistake and a decision no one should face to avoid the suffering from it, you can let your son live and be different. Maybe he can’t do anything and needs to be going in and out of hospitals constantly to help him.
In my opinion I would abort because just thinking about a life of suffering just by seeing your kid the way he is and life could be hard for him. Thinking how he could live a life of misery by the bad luck of being born that way and that’s one of many reasons to avoid yourself and himself a life of suffering from a certain point of view.
A kid with Down syndrome has a lot to overcome, from birth to growing up he is in extreme danger because anything can happen to him and the problem can have horrible consequences.
I would abort just by thinking how you can’t give a kid a life like everybody else’s, by imagining how he won’t be the same and suffer for it. In a way I see it as saving a soul that wasn’t destined to a life that it was going to have and giving it another chance in a life that won’t be as horrible and unsatisfying as this one could be.
